Cathy Myhill - Current Work
"I am inspired by the local landscape where the ever changing weather patterns and quality of light create amazing moods and atmosphere.
Natural forms and textures fused with elements from our rich Celtic heritage and my love of the Art Nouveau movement provide me with an endless supply of source material and ideas for my work.
I use a variety of techniques in watercolour and mixed media, working on paper, board, canvas or wood.
Painting is an ever changing adventure, I am constantly excited and surprised by discoveries and happy accidents during sessions of experimentation and trying out new materials or ideas. Through my work I strive to convey a sense of atmosphere, to capture the spirit of the place and my own connection to my environment and Celtic roots."
Cathy Myhill studied at Bourneville School of Art, Birmingham and City of Birmingham College of Education, subsequently graduating as an art teacher. Since moving to Skye in 1980 she has worked as a professional artist
