'Dandelion
Designs'
offers a unique collection of handmade arts and original craftwork for you to
to treasure for years to come...
... ... whether you're
a visitor to Scotland's Isle of Skye looking for a keepsake, or seeking
that special gift for someone, there is surely something to tempt you
within!
Situated in the romantic
and historic
village of Stein, on the Waternish peninsular of Skye, in 'The
Captain's House' you will find
'Dandelion Designs' Craft Workshop and Images Gallery.
The Craftshop
is an Aladdin's Cave of unique and distinctive hand-decorated
woodcrafts, wall plaques, clocks, boxes, candles and other items primarily produced
by local artists and crafts specialists.
Each piece of our work bears a
handcrafted design or illustration utilising a mixture of techniques
ranging from the ancient art of pyrography to
conventional painting.
Every design is original
and unique: nothing is repeated. We also specialise in
working to commission to produce very individual personalised gifts for
anniversaries, celebrations and other occasions.
The Gallery
presents a treasure trove of contemporary and modern art accompanied by more
traditional work conveying the moods, atmosphere and beauty of the
Hebrides.
When you're done inside,
the village of Stein
is also well served for refreshment. It is home to the oldest pub on Skye, the 'Stein Inn',
with real ale and fine food, or a few steps the other way is the well known
'Lochbay Sea Food
Restaurant' - for a light
lunch, afternoon tea or a full meal.
Maybe you'd rather take
a walk and explore Waternish - an area rich in history and wildlife: why
not take a personally guided tour from 'Skye-Larks'.
There is also a dive
centre plus locally run boat
trips to see the spectacular coastal scenery and marine wildlife
including whales, dolphins and porpoises.
Many of Skye’s craft workers are
also on Waternish, including the 'SkyeSkyns'
tannery & shop, 'Dunhallin Crafts', the 'Halistra
Pottery', and 'Shilasdair'
yarn and knitwear. Nearby are
also 'Edinbane
Pottery', the 'Croft Studio' at Dunvegan and 'Skyelight
Candles' at Staffin.
Futher afield, by the
Skye Bridge, you may care to stay a while at the 'White
Heather Hotel' at Kyleakin whilst on your way to visit Dandelion
Designs.
